Hello, everyone!
I'm a tour guide in the historic district of Macao. You can call me Xiao Zhang. I hope you can understand the charm of Macao's historical city from my explanation.
Let me give you a brief introduction to the historic district of Macao. The historic district of Macao is a historic district with the old urban area of Macao as the core, including square space in front of the convention hall, lobby, pigeon nest, and 20 scenic spots, such as mage temple, Port Authority building, Zhengjia house, all of which are listed in the world heritage list. The historic district of Macao has preserved the historical essence of Macao's cultural exchanges between China and the West for more than 400 years. It is the oldest, largest and best preserved historic district in China, with western architecture as the main part and Chinese and Western architecture reflecting each other. It is an important witness of the spread of Western religious culture in China.
Now we're going to the Da Sanba memorial archway. Let's start from the fountain in front of the meeting hall and walk north along the wavy gravel road. Ah! It's not a wide street. There are many artistic buildings on both sides of the street, which make us dizzy. Good! Almost to the highest point of the hillside, tourists, dashanba memorial archway stands in front of them. The most famous place of interest in Macao, the Da San Ba memorial archway, has long been a symbol of Macao's history and culture. I tell you that it is not actually a memorial archway, but the front wall of St. Paul's church. In 1835, St. Paul's University, which is adjacent to the church, caught fire, and the church was damaged. The front wall of the main gate and the large stone steps built against the mountain are made of solid stones, which can't be destroyed by the fire, so they are preserved to this day.
Please visit the memorial archway carefully, and do not litter, protect the memorial archway.

Hello, everyone. I'm the tour guide who is responsible for taking you to visit Macao's famous place of interest, mage temple. I hope my explanation will give you a pleasant journey. First of all, let me introduce Mazu temple.
Mage temple was called niangma temple, Tianfei temple or haijue temple in the early period; later it was named “Mazu Temple”, which is commonly known as “mage Temple” in Chinese. Mazu means “mother” in Fujian dialect. The temple is built along the cliff with a back mountain and a sea. It is surrounded by towering ancient trees. There is a pair of stone lions at the entrance of the temple. It is said that they are masterpieces of the Qing Dynasty 300 years ago. The temple is composed of four buildings: the main hall, the stone hall, the Hongren hall and the Guanyin Pavilion.
The best time to visit mage temple is during the Spring Festival, because this time is the most popular, and many traditional activities will be held. Many faithful men and women come to pray for the gods. A large bamboo shed will be built in front of the temple as a temporary stage for performing miraculous arts.
Mage temple is composed of “the first temple in Shenshan mountain”, Hongren temple, Zhengjue Buddhist temple, Guanyin Pavilion and other parts. Although the scale of each building is small and crude, it can fully integrate nature and the layout is well arranged.
Entrance gate
You can see the granite building at the entrance gate. It is 4.5 meters wide and has only one door opening. The lintel has the word “Mazu Pavilion” and couplets on both sides. The three parts are decorated with glazed tile roof. The top of the lintel has a cornice shaped ridge with porcelain beads and fish on it.
Memorial Gateway
Immediately behind the gate of MAGE temple is a three room four column arch, also made of granite, with four stone lions on the capitals.
Hongren Hall
You have now come to the smallest Hongren hall, which is only about 3 square meters.
Buddism godness Guanyin Temple
Guanyin hall, located at the highest place, is mainly made of brick and stone. Its architecture is simple and hard mountain style.
Zhengjue Buddhist temple
You are now in the Zhengjue Buddhist temple. This Buddhist temple pays more attention to both the scale and the architectural form. The building is composed of a temple dedicated to the queen of heaven and a retreat area. The building in the repair area is a common folk house with a hard Hill brick structure, while the temple is a four frame beam structure. There is an inner courtyard in front of the main hall. The side porches on both sides are shed roofs. The main hall area is divided into three bays by two rows of three columns. The roof is glazed tile slope top, and the top of the side walls on both sides is a gold shaped “wok ear” gable, which has the meaning of fire prevention and strong southern Fujian characteristics. It is located in the front of the inner courtyard, From left to right, it can be divided into five parts. The middle part is the highest and the two sides are gradually lower. The wall is decorated with clay sculpture. The top of the wall is decorated with glazed tiles. Under the eaves of the glazed tiles, there are three layers of flowers symbolizing the bucket arch. In addition, there is a circular window opening with a radius of 1.1 meters in the middle part. The eaves and porcelain beads on the top of the glazed tiles also show the importance of this hall.
Mazu Pavilion is always full of incense. Every year, on the new year's eve of the lunar calendar, the birthday of Mazu on March 23, and the Double Ninth Festival on September 9, it is full of people.
Witness the flame
On the afternoon of May 3, , the Beijing Olympic flame passes through Macao's mage temple. The Olympic flame from Olympia will meet the incense from mage temple, and Macao will show the characteristics of Chinese and Western cultures in the most representative way of welcoming the Olympic flame.
Well, that's the end of today's tour. I hope this interpretation has left a deep impression on you. Please pay more attention to more Macao scenic spots. Goodbye.
St. laorenzo church, known as Fengshun church, is one of the three oldest churches in Macao. It is located in fengshuntang street, just opposite to Macau Ciyou middle school. The actual construction year is unpredictable, but according to historical records, it is estimated that the church was a wooden chapel founded by Jesuits around 1569. According to the inscriptions on one of the stone inscriptions in the church, it was first rebuilt in 1618. As for the scale of the church, it was rebuilt in 1844.
When St. laorenzo church was built in the early years, because it was close to the wharf, there was a flag pole in the church, which was an important indicator for Portuguese to decide whether to go to sea or not. “A brief account of Macao” states: “in the southwest, there is Fengxin temple. Since the Tibetan ships came out, the family members came back every day and prayed for Fengxin here.” Therefore, this church is also commonly known as “fengxintang”. Later, because of the homonym of “Xin” and “Shun” in Cantonese, perhaps to pray for good weather, “Feng Xin” became “Feng Shun”, and “Feng Shun Tang Street” and “Feng Shun Tang district” got their names. Different from the rose church and St. Joseph's Chapel, St. laorenzo's building is towering and imposing. The European classical style has a baroque flavor. Because the whole building is not located in the square (front ground), or out of the position of a certain section of scenery, in order to highlight the existence of the whole church and serve as the center of a residential area, a high platform with nearly one floor is added below the church to make it more upright and conspicuous. And the process of the faithful men and women climbing up the ladder has become a kind of ceremony before they enter the church to worship. Another difference from the first two churches is that St. laorenzo church covers a large area, so there is a large courtyard around the church. The courtyard is full of vibrant plants, and it is separated from the residential buildings nearby in space and vision. Therefore, the entrance to the church basically focuses on the building itself, the surrounding plants and the blue sky There is no earthly noise, quiet and pleasant.
Many years ago, Fengshun hall was called Fengxin hall among Chinese people, which means Shunfeng Shunshui. Most of the Portuguese who lived in Australia made a living by going to sea for business. Their families prayed for the safe return of their relatives more than this church, hoping for the protection of the gods. The hyacinth flagpole set up in the church provided an important index for the Portuguese sailing boats which were mainly driven by wind at that time. “Fengshun” is the Cantonese homonym of “Fengxin”, which makes the church more Chinese.
The Fengshun hall was established as early as 1569, during which it was rebuilt several times, including one in 1618. The old church was decorated in 1979, which added to its splendor. Church design, magnificent, left and right bell tower and Qi, one is a clock, used to tell the time; one is a bronze bell, used for church mass shaking roar. The roof of the church is covered with Chinese style golden tiles, and the interior decoration is full of Oriental color and elegant. The hall is spacious and magnificent, with huge beams and exquisite chandeliers, which is quite luxurious and grand.
In the altar, there is a statue of Saint laorenzo, wearing gorgeous robes, holding the Bible in one hand and the staff in the other. It is solemn and solemn. In the eyes of Portuguese who often sail, it is the God of peace and good faith.
The church is not far away from the temple of ma'ge. However, in the short distance, we can see the echo of Portuguese maritime patron and Chinese sea god, witness the collision and integration of Western and Chinese culture, and appreciate the tolerance of Macao people to different cultures.
Welcome to Meizhou Island, known as “Mecca in the East, Potala Palace on the sea”. I'm Xiao Li, the tour guide. Now, please follow me to pay a visit to the goddess Mazu and the ancestral temple.
In order to let you know more about Meizhou Island during your tour, I'd like to introduce the general situation of Meizhou Island by boat: it covers an area of 14.3 square kilometers. Because it's shaped like a human eyebrow and embedded in thousands of blue waves, it's named “Meizhou”. It's not only the place where Mazu lived since childhood, but also the place where Mazu temples are famous at home and abroad. My friends, Meizhou Island has arrived. Please take your luggage and belongings with you and follow me to get off the ship. Please be careful at your feet and pay attention to safety!
Looking ahead, there are groups of pilgrims. They include Taiwan compatriots and overseas Chinese from across the sea, as well as pilgrims from the mainland. Have you noticed that there is a statue of Mazu in front of these teams? Are your friends very curious? In fact, these statues were sent out from the ancestral temple before. Now they send her back, also called “Mazu back to her mother's home”. This phenomenon is often seen here, which proves that the fragrance of Meizhou Island is very strong.
Please look at this magnificent building in front of us. Does it look like the Potala Palace in Tibet? This is Mazu temple. Now we are at the first gate of the ancestral temple, the mountain gate. Because Mazu is “the virgin of heaven”, is the supreme goddess, so its specifications are built according to the royal palace. In the mountain gate, there are two gods, Qianliyan and shunfenger. It is said that Qianliyan and shunfenger were sea monsters recovered by Mazu.
We walked up the stone steps and saw the second gate of the ancestral temple, Yimen. You see, there is a plaque on the top of this instrument door, which says “imperial edict”, so it is also called “imperial edict door”. The square we see now is the place where large-scale music and dance performances are performed at every memorial ceremony. On my left and right are the bell tower and the drum tower. Friends, let's continue to go up. Now we come to the “Prince hall”, which was built by Yao Qisheng, governor of Fujian Province. You may be surprised that this is the Mazu temple. How can there be a prince hall? It is said that Yao Qisheng was sheltered by Mazu and successfully completed the task assigned to him by the emperor. He was granted the title of “Prince Shaobao” by the emperor. Yao Qisheng wanted to thank his mother Zu built the “Prince hall” here. At the beginning of the construction of this hall, it was intended to become the main hall, but the folk custom is still willing to follow the ancient system. I only think that the building next to me is the most primitive main hall. Now let's visit the main hall with me.
This is the holy place in the hearts of hundreds of millions of Mazu believers. Before we go to visit, let's take a look at the couplet on the gate post. Do you know what the couplet means? In fact, the couplet skillfully uses the characteristics of ancient Chinese interchangeable words, so it should be read like this: “qizhai, qizhai, qizhai, qiqizhaijie; Chaochao, Chaochao, Chaochao, Chaochao, Chaochao sound ”the first couplet introduces the cultural landscape of Meizhou, where visitors sincerely worship Mazu, while the second couplet introduces the natural scenery of Meizhou, which mainly highlights the Chaoyin of Meiyu, one of the 24 scenic spots in Putian, Meizhou Island. After reading the couplet, please follow me into the hall. There are two halls in the hall, which are connected by a patio in the middle. You can see that there is a plaque hanging on the main beam, which is issued by the Emperor himself! Friends, have you noticed that this hall is very special. There are two Mazu worshipped here, the one in front is called “visiting Mazu”, and the one behind is called “Zhendian Mazu” When Matsu went on a tour, Matsu in the town hall was worshipped by believers. As you can see, the shrines on both sides are full of Mazu's accompanying gods, known as the 18 Shuique immortal class. Some of them are sea gods worshipped in other places in ancient times, and some are water demons and sea monsters recovered by Mazu.
OK, after visiting the main hall of Mazu temple, let's take a look at the legendary place where Mazu ascended to heaven - the historic site. Here we are. While you are visiting, I will tell you about the legend of Mazu's life. It is said that Mazu never cried from birth to the full moon, so her parents named her “Lin Mo”. Mo Niang was smarter than other children since she was a child. It is said that she could recite sutras at the age of 8, and was called “filial daughter” because she saved her relatives at sea. After Lin Mo's death, it is said that she emerged and soared in Meifeng. It is said that the imperial court sent an emissary Lu Yundi to Korea, and the ship encountered wind and waves when it was in the East China Sea. In the face of danger, I saw red lights on the top of the ship, and then there was no wind and waves. Lu Yun was surprised, so he asked his subordinates what kind of deity appeared to rescue him. It happened that there was a Putian man on board, who said that Meizhou goddess rescued him. Later, when Lu Yundi returned to the court, he played the emperor. This is the first time that Mazu's deeds came from the people to the court.
Now that the story is finished, let's go to Chaotian Pavilion, the highest point on the central axis. Have you noticed that the Mazu worshipped in it is different from other halls? By the way, the Mazu worshipped in it is black faced. Friends who have been to Taiwan must find that all Mazu worshipped in Mazu temple in Taiwan are black faced Mazu. Do you want to know why? It is said that during the voyage of Fenling Mazu in Taiwan for several months, believers burned incense day and night to worship, and devout incense blackened Mazu's face, so all Mazu worshipped in Taiwan are black faced, because Chaotian Pavilion is the Chaotian Palace in Lukang, Taiwan So Mazu is black faced. Now, let's go to the top of the mountain to see the stone statue of Mazu. It takes 99 steps to get there, and the axis from the archway of Mazu temple at the foot of the mountain to the statue of Mazu at the top of the mountain is 323 meters long. 99 is the day of Mazu's ascent on the 9th day of September. Let's guess what 323 meters stands for. By the way, it's Mazu's birthday.
Well, friends, this is the highest point of Mazu mountain. This statue is 14.3 meters high and made of 365 chopsticks of granite. It symbolizes that Mazu blesses the residents of 14.3 square kilometers Meizhou Island 365 days a year, happy and safe. Look, Mazu's face is kind, looking at the sea. As like as two peas, the Mazu goddess looks at Taiwan, and there is a statue of Mazu in Taiwan. We are jointly maintaining peace and tranquility on both sides of the Straits. There are countless believers in Mazu all over the world. In fact, they have a strong sense of not forgetting their ancestors. Maybe this is the key to the long-lasting spread of Mazu belief.
Friends, if you have the chance, I hope you can visit Meizhou again. Welcome to visit this strange woman. At that time, please come to Meizhou with your friends. Thank you!
Welcome to Songshan lighthouse in Macao! I'm your guide. My name is X. you can call me Xiao X. In order to facilitate your visit, let me first introduce the Songshan lighthouse.
Songshan lighthouse is the first lighthouse in China's coastal and far east areas. It was named Dongwangyang lighthouse because it stands in the pines of Songshan mountain. Songshan Mountain, formerly known as Qinshan mountain and Dongwangyang mountain, is the highest hill in Macao Peninsula, with an altitude of 93 meters. It is the landmark of geographical coordinates in Macao.
Songshan lighthouse, Songshan fort and Songshan church, two other 300 year old monuments, constitute the three monuments of Songshan. From here, you can have a panoramic view of Macao and the magnificent scenery of the Pearl River Estuary, and appreciate the changes of ancient and modern times.
The 13 meter high Songshan lighthouse, designed by a native Portuguese, was built in 1964. It radiated light on September 24, 1865. Nine years later, it was destroyed by a typhoon in August 1874. It was rebuilt in 1911 and has been officially put into use so far.
This is the end of my explanation today. Here is the time for you to visit freely. I hope this visit will leave you a deep impression. I wish you have a good time. Thank you.
